Meet the Producers -
The Dovecote Tearoom

For any newcomers, who are you and what do you do?

We are The Dovecote Tearoom based in Kirk Michael, we specialise in home cooked food which is all prepared on the premises, we are famous for our afternoon teas!

When did you establish your business?

We opened our doors in 2017.

What inspired you to begin?

I was the girl that always wanted to own a tearoom and I’m lucky enough to be able to have my dream come true.

How has your business grown since then?

We originally opened a tearoom and gift shop, but the demand for tables was so high, we had to expand the café into the gift shop!

Where are you based and what does that community mean to you?

You’ll find us on the main road in Kirk Michael, a wonderful community we’re proud to be part of. Most of our staff are form the village, and we like to give back by supporting a number of local charities.

What does the Isle of Man Food & Drink Festival mean to you?

For us this is a fabulous opportunity to meet new business contacts and to showcase what we do and where we are as there are still people who have not heard of us.

Which other local producer(s) are you most looking forward to seeing this year?

This will be our 2nd IOM Food festival, we look forward to seeing Berries puddings at the show, also very interested to see new businesses.

What’s on the horizon for your business?

We offer our fabulous afternoon teas for parties and special events, but we’re excited to be expanding our outside catering offering!

What is your signature dish/product?

Cheese pie (secret recipe) is THE most popular menu choice, our cake selection is varied from week to week, we always test new recipes, the staff have a tough job being the testers! Cakes could be traditional chocolate fudge, coffee & walnut, lemon drizzle or sometimes we go fresh fruit of the season such as Wimbledon sponge, peach lemon & thyme, blueberry and sour cream, apple and almond. We have a great selection of cakes every day.
